Peugeot Motorhome Insurance
cover for a motorhome on a platform that appears under more than one badge
Cover for a motorhome built on a Peugeot base vehicle. The platform is shared with other badges, which helps with parts and servicing, while the body on top decides the value and most of the rating.
- A widely shared platform
- Parts and garages everywhere
- The body decides the value
- FCA authorised and regulated
Quick answerThe Peugeot base under a great many motorhomes shares its platform with other badges, which is useful to know and easy to overlook. It widens the pool of parts and of garages that know the vehicle, and it means used examples that look quite different are mechanically much the same. The body on top is what actually varies. Tell us the base and the converter, and specialist UK brokers can come back with quotes.
Want the chassis detail? Our Ducato motorhome insurance page covers the chassis itself.
At a glance
Before You Quote a Peugeot: Six Points
Six things about a motorhome on this base.
- The platform is shared
- The same vehicle wears other badges
- Parts are widely available
- Which keeps repairs short
- The body came from elsewhere
- Name the converter at the quote
- Value the finished motorhome
- Not the van underneath

- Storage still leads the rating
- Along with the value
The basics
What an Underwriter Sees in a Peugeot
Mechanically this is one of the best supported bases on the road. What varies, and what an underwriter is really pricing, is the body somebody built onto it.
The vehicle itself
Make, model, year and berth.
What it is worth
Replacement cost today.
Where it is kept
A drive, a yard or a graded site.
Security fitted
Alarm, immobiliser, tracker, locks.
How far it goes
An honest annual distance.
Who drives it
Owners and anybody else permitted.
How it works
Arranging Peugeot Cover, Step by Step
The process is short. What matters is describing the mileage and the storage accurately, because both are rated fields rather than formalities.
Identify the vehicle
Make, model, year and registration.
Say where it is kept
A drive, a yard or a storage site.
Describe how it is used
Weekends away, long tours, rallies, a seasonal pitch or European trips.
Weigh the quotes up
Price against the replacement basis.
What it covers
Which Sections Do the Work on a Peugeot
The road sections you would recognise from a car policy, plus the habitation cover that answers for the living area and what is kept in it.
| Section | Where it sits | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Damage to the vehicle | Comprehensive cover | Repair or settlement for a Peugeot-based motorhome |
| Theft | Included | Alarm, immobiliser and tracker conditions apply |
| Weather damage | Included | Storm, flood, falling branches |
| Equipment and belongings | A limit of its own | Not the same pot as the vehicle |
| Windscreen | Often separate | Large screens are costly to replace |
| Continental cover | By arrangement | With a limit on days away |
| Legal expenses | An add-on | Recovering an uninsured loss |
Shared platforms help when buying used. If two vehicles differ only in the badge, compare them on the body, the condition and the damp history instead. That is where the real difference between them sits.
What it leaves out
The Losses a Peugeot Policy Turns Away
Every policy has edges, and on a Peugeot-based motorhome they fall in fairly predictable places. Damp is the one that surprises owners.
Ingress and consequent damp
Sealant, seams and roof joints are yours to maintain.
Mechanical breakdown and deterioration
A policy is not a maintenance contract.
Losses where the security was not set
Declared devices become conditions.
Belongings in an awning overnight
Rarely covered, and worth knowing.
Renting the vehicle out
Unless the policy says otherwise.
Gradual water ingress
The commonest reason a habitation claim is refused.
Bodies on this base
The Peugeot Shapes on UK Roads
Converters across Europe build on this platform, so the range of bodies sitting on it is very wide indeed.
Coachbuilt bodies
Built onto the chassis cab.
Van conversions
The original bodywork kept.
A-class bodies
The cab replaced entirely.
Family layouts
More berths, more to replace.
Owner conversions
Fitted out privately.
Older examples
Where condition tells.

Who it suits
Who Drives a Peugeot
Owners of vehicles on this platform are most of the touring market, so the group tells you little; the body tells you everything.
Touring couples
The largest group.
Coachbuilt owners
Bodies from many makers.
Conversion owners
Factory or private.
Continental tourers
Long trips abroad.
Buyers of used vehicles
Value and history questions.
Owners of recent models
Where new for old applies.

Badge or platform
A Peugeot Driven Often vs One Used for Weeks
It helps to separate what the badge tells you from what the platform tells you, because only one of them affects how the vehicle is repaired.
| The badge | The platform | |
|---|---|---|
| What it identifies | The base vehicle maker | The engineering underneath |
| Parts | Badge-specific trim | Largely shared |
| Garages | Dealer network | Almost any commercial garage |
| Effect on the quote | Small | Practical rather than priced |

Cost
What Moves the Price of a Peugeot
The vehicle, its value, the annual distance, where it is kept, the security fitted and the claims record. We do not print average premiums.
Why the converter matters more than the badge
The base is shared across a huge number of vehicles. What was built on top decides the value, the weight and who can repair it, and those are the things the quote actually turns on.
Why a shared platform helps you anyway
Parts on the shelf and garages that know the vehicle keep mechanical repairs short. It does not show as a discount, but it shows in how quickly the motorhome comes back to you.
What the quote is rated on

Store it behind a barrier
One of the strongest levers.
Set the mileage honestly
Limited mileage terms price well.
Value it for replacement
Not for what you paid.
The conditions
Four Conditions a Peugeot Policy Carries
These are the practical terms behind a Peugeot-based motorhome. Easy to meet and easy to forget, which is exactly why they are worth listing.
Use the devices every time
Including on a driveway between trips.
Stay inside the agreed annual distance
Tell the insurer if the touring plans change.
Tell the insurer if storage changes
Site grade is a rated field.
Keep the habitation check up to date
It will not create cover, but it protects one.

Have This to Hand Before Quoting a Peugeot
A broker will ask for all of this. Gathering it first turns several calls into one.
The replacement figure
Not what you paid for it.
Vehicle details
Make, model, year, berth and the registration.
Storage arrangement
A drive, a yard, a farm or a graded storage site.
Annual mileage
Realistic rather than optimistic.

Sites, rallies or the Continent.
Claims history
Five years is usually asked for.
Comparing
Two Peugeot Quotes, Read Side by Side
Price is the easy part to compare. What follows is the rest of it, and it matters more.
The limits
- Sum insured on the vehicle itself
- Contents limit and any single-item cap
- Windscreen and glass cover
The conditions
- Security devices required
- Storage site grade accepted
- Annual mileage the price assumes
On this motorhome specifically
- Settlement basis on this vehicle
- Contents and awning limits
- Mileage and storage conditions
Ask how a total loss would be settled. It is the question owners forget to ask. Unfamiliar terms are explained in our plain English jargon guide.
Cutting costs
Paying Less to Insure a Peugeot
The levers are storage, security, an honest mileage, an accurate value and a clean record. We publish no savings figures.
Move it to a graded site
Storage moves the price.
Fit a tracker
Recovery odds change the rating.
Agree a realistic mileage
And then stay inside it.
Keep the value current
Under-insuring costs more later.
Build clean years
A motorhome bonus is worth protecting.
Compare every renewal
This market moves a great deal.

FAQs
Peugeot Motorhome Insurance FAQs
Answers on storage, security, damp, mileage limits and European touring.
Is the base really the same as other badges?
The platform is shared across more than one marque, which is why parts and servicing are so widely available. Trim and badging differ, but mechanically the vehicles have a great deal in common.
Does that change the insurance?
Not directly. It helps with repair times and parts availability rather than with the premium, which is driven by the value of the finished motorhome, the storage and the mileage.
What should I tell a broker?
The base vehicle and year, and the manufacturer, model and layout of the body. The registration document names only the first of those, and the second is where most of the value sits.
How should I value it?
On what replacing the finished motorhome with an equivalent would cost today. Valuing it as the plain van underneath leaves the interior, which is where most of the money sits, effectively uninsured.
Is servicing straightforward?
Mechanically, yes. Almost any commercial garage can work on the base vehicle. The habitation side needs a specialist and an annual check of its own.
Does an older example narrow the market?
Age narrows the number of insurers interested rather than closing the market. An agreed value is the usual route once new for old no longer applies.
What security will be asked for?
An alarm and immobiliser at minimum, with a tracker common on higher-value vehicles. Familiar commercial bases are familiar to thieves, so the devices are taken seriously.
Does damp affect vehicles on this base?
Damp is a habitation problem rather than a base vehicle one, so it depends entirely on who built the body and how it has been maintained. The annual damp reading is the protection.
What makes a Peugeot-based motorhome different from a car to insure?
It is two things at once: a vehicle that is driven and a living space that is furnished. The road cover looks familiar, but the contents, the fittings and the way a total loss is settled all work differently.
What settlement basis should I look for?
New for old while the vehicle is within the age limit, then agreed value if it is older or converted. Market value is the weakest of the three and worth identifying before you buy rather than after a total loss.
Do I need a tracker?
Not always required, but frequently rewarded. A tracker improves the odds of recovering a stolen vehicle, and insurers price that in, particularly on higher-value motorhomes kept at home rather than behind a barrier.
Does a motorhome earn its own no claims bonus?
Many insurers run one, built up separately from the car. It is worth asking how yours is earned and whether it can be protected, because a single claim can undo several years.
What devices will I be asked to fit?
An alarm and immobiliser are the usual minimum, with trackers, wheel locks and pedal locks common on larger vehicles. They have to be used rather than owned, and insurers check after a theft.
Is a driveway acceptable to insurers?
Generally yes, and it is what a good many owners do. A gated or graded storage site usually rates better, so if you have the choice it is worth pricing both.
Does a habitation check help?
It does. A documented annual check with a damp reading behind it makes a vehicle easier to place and easier to claim on, because it shows the gradual problems were being looked for.
How accurate does the mileage need to be?
Accurate enough that you will not sail past it. A limited mileage policy is priced on the figure given, and an estimate that turns out to be half the real distance is the kind of thing that surfaces after a claim.
